Lyrics Born
Same !@#$ Different Day

Release Date: 04/19/05

Score:

8.0
out of 10.0

First off to clear up any possible confusion, I didn't edit the title; that is the actual name of the album.

In this remix of Later that Day, Lyrics Born has done a great job of improving just about everything he touched. A sound that blends bay area funk with a rapping style similar to that of Blackalicious, this album is very enjoyable.

"Do that there" and "Hello" are my favorite cuts on the album and "The Bay" is an appropriately funky tribute to the Bay Area and its contribution to funk music.

While the album overall is good, there are a few spots that don't flow very well with the style the rest of the album builds up. "Over You" probably could have been left off the album and seems to drag the overall feel down a little bit.

Regardless I think this album is good. If you're a fan of funky grooves and smooth rapping, then get this album.
