Talk about a dirty album... this one takes the cake. Vulgaritys, dirty talk, sexually provacative, sleezy, cheesy, and the like: this album has it all. It's the Duke Nukem of rock music of the 2000s. When you take one of them retro "the" band sounds, garage punk, and make it a tad more interesting sounding, and then throw in enough tantrem lyrics that'll get a Parental Advisory sticker slapped on it, you'll come close to the sound of Louis XIV and their major label debut, The Best Little Secrets are Kept.
"Sing, sing me a song. And bang me like the girls in Hong Kong. I know I ain't correct, but politics are better when they're sex."
Ya, those are some kind words from their third track, "Paperdoll", and that's almost exactly what you'll find on this album. "If you want clean fun, then go fly a kite." Yea, each song is littered with filthy dirty lyrics both racially disrupting and sexually engaging. But it for some reason, it works so well and the musical score to the vocals are tight and top notch.
Louis XIV really put together an intersting record here. It's got catchy tunes, racy vocals and enough attitude to keep you interested all the way through. They don't lack in many areas, and it's one of those forbidden pleasures to hear an album as quirky as this one is. There's alot of hype and they actually meet much of it. Surprisingly.
