Chapter 6: And it was the best bowl of noodles ever

So let me tell you about my favorite restaraunt here. It’s called Dragon Ramen. It’s quite close to my apartment, maybe 3 minutes by bike. It has kinda strange hours, from 12-2pm and from 6-10pm. I suppose thats pretty good though. It’s owned by a Chinese family, who speak very little English and Japanese. But we communicate just fine.

Anyways, this place specializes in a dish called “choshu,” which is like a Chinese style grilled pork. And they don’t just make choshu, but they make it, and dump it in a bowl a miso ramen. The result, is this absolutely fucking amazing bowl of ramen. You have your noodles, pretty standard, you have a rare hard boiled egg, which when you break it, the yoke pours out into the soup, you have mushrooms, your onions, a little nori, then the beautiful, beautiful choshu. It’s really a combination of the choshu and the broth which makes it so good. I’ve had some good noodles in Seattle, but nothing compares to this.

It’s a little spendy for a bowl of ramen, just about 1100en, so around $10US. But trust me, it’s worth every yen.

Sorry for not posting more on this thing, for those of you who actually read it. It’s not that I’ve even been that busy, though I have been. It’s just that, if I have free time, I generally don’t like to spend it on the computer. I like to explore the area. I’ve been finding all sorts of great stuff around lately.

Oh and I’ve also started to collect Super Famicom games lately. They are dirt cheap here, usually about 100-300en. I bought the Super Famicom itself for 1000en, which I thought was a steal. Since then, I’ve picked up Super Mario Kart, Super Bomberman 4, Super Famista 4, Powerful Pro-Kun Baseball, Chrono Trigger, Dragon Ball Z 2, Rider’s Spirits. My favorite right now, is, well, Super Famista. I was addicted to that game on emulator, and I’m addicted to it again. I love it. Playing Chrono Trigge
